How to make Rui Posto

 

Ingredients:

Fish marination :

  • Rohu fish /Rui Mach - 4 piece
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

Making gravy:

  • Chopped onion - 1 large size
  • Mustard oil - 1/4 cup
  • Nigella seed/Kalo jeera - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • ( Poppy Seed 2 green chilli 2 garlic clove ) Paste - 3 tbsp
  • Slit green chillies - 2 no.
  • Water as required

Method:

  • First clean and wash the fish pieces thoroughly.
  • Marinate the fish with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp of salt. Keep it aside for 30 min.
  • Heat 1/4 cup of mustard oil in a pan. Once the oil has become heated properly then add marinated fish, fry it both sides for 3 mins on medium to high flame.
  • Once the fish turns golden brown then take it out from the pan and keep it aside.
  • Into the remaining oil add 1/4 tsp of nigella seed/Kalo jeera once it starts to crackle then add 1 large size chopped onion and fry it for 2 mins on medium flame.
  • In a grinding jar add 3 tablespoons of a poppy seed, 2 green chillies and 2 garlic clove and grind it into a fine paste.
  • After 2 min adds the poppy seed paste, salt to taste and 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, mix it well and fry it for 3 min on medium flame. Cover it.
  • After 3 min opens the lid and stirs it once, add 1/2 cup of water and mix it well. Cover it for 3 min.
  • After 3 min adds fried fish and stirs it gently add 1/2 cup of water if required, add 2 slit green chillies, cover it for another 5 mins.
  • After 5 min opens the lid and checks it once, spread 1 teaspoon of mustard oil and turn off the flame.
  • Serve it with hot steamed rice.
